Doggone awesome Mission Statement

Showing and sharing God's love to all His creations, great and small, furry and non furry.

new clients

To new clients, a 'Meet and Greet' is required with you and your pet(s) prior to any agreement of care. If D.A.P.S. feels that we are not the best option for the care needed, we reserve the right to decline. It is in the best interest of you, your pet(s) and us. If YOU feel that we are not the right fit for your pet's needs, there is no obligation. The best care for your pet(s) is our priority.

The Meet & Greet includes meeting you and your pet, discussing needs, completing paper work, property access instructions, becoming familiar with your home where pets have access to, payments, etc. There are forms and contracts to be filled out and completed if everyone is comfortable with services. There is a lot discussed such as your pets routine, diet, fears, likes/dislikes, health, etc. This meeting may take 30 min., 60 min., or possibly longer depending on number of pets and needs. Even if you do not have specific dates in mind of when you would like services, it is a good idea to schedule a Meet & Greet anytime, so that whenever you do, we will be ready with no need for trying to fit in a meeting.

Privacy & security

We will never discuss a job, a client or any information about your home to acquaintances. These are private, professional in - your - home services. All keys and access codes are kept separate from any files and are coded.

Reservation are made to secure client's service dates and guarantee service care availability. D.A.P.S. only accepts a certain number of reservations in order to provide the best care for your pet(s). When our schedule is filled, we must decline other client service requests for those dates.

24 Hour notice prior to your appointment DAY is required in order to not be charged for the random or daily visits. No refunds or credit for cancellations of 24 hours or less notice the day of a service.

A FULL 2 WEEK'S NOTICE IS NEEDED PRIOR TO YOUR VACATION Pet Sits. If cancelling prior to two weeks of the first visit, then your money will be refunded in full. If cancelling within the 2 week time frame, 1/2 of your money will be refunded.

If you are home during a scheduled visit and forget to cancel and we arrive at your home, the full price of the service will be charged.

service area

Service area may be adjusted at a later time, but for now, there are no added fees within a 7 mile radius from the Monticello Court House. For service outside of this, there may be additional fees applied. We are happy to provide service to Monticello, Indiana (47960) and surrounding areas! Buffalo, Idaville, Burnettsville, etc. The range of added fees will be $2 - $25 average, either per day and/or visit for those that are further than 7 miles.

Inclement weather

Please assume that despite any weather conditions, if you have a visit scheduled with D.A.P.S., we will be there.

If it is not possible to reach your home safely, your closest emergency contact will be notified. Every effort will be made to reach your home, but the service scheduled may be changed, interrupted, or altered. You will be notified that a new plan has been put in place.

D.A.P.S. reserves the right to limit time outside in extreme weather conditions to protect both your pets and the pet sitter. This includes severe thunderstorms and torrential downpours, wind chills below 0 degrees, temperatures above 90 degrees or extremely icy conditions. Instead, we will spend time providing an outside potty break, indoor playing, brushing your pet and giving lots of love. Our goal is to keep your pet(s) and your pet sitter safe at all times.

property ACCESS

We will discuss any arrangements with you for accessing your property. If necessary, notify your alarm company, door person and/or gate guards that Doggone Awesome Pet Services will be caring for your pets so that we are allowed access to your home and to prevent any issues with our entering.

ID Tags must be worn

Any animal that will be outside, must have a ID Tag on with contact information. This includes even fenced in back yard. This excludes farm animals and full-time outdoor cats.

fences

D.A.P.S. does not accept responsibility or liability for any client’s animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to leave the clients animals in a fenced in area or if there is a doggy door. This includes electronic, wood, metal or any other type of fence. We also reserve the right to refuse yard activity if the yard poses a threat to the pets or providers. For example: unsanitary conditions, stagnant water, excess animal waste, unkept lawn, hazardous trash, etc.

fleas

We understand this can be an issue from time to time but cannot take the chance of infecting other pets and homes with fleas. If we notice any fleas on our visits, we will notify you. In cases where we show up and it is a big problem, we will notify you, then your emergency contact so they can complete the pet care needed. Fleas can be toxic and hopefully you will understand we cannot take the chance of infecting other animals and locations and our own. We will not transport ANY animal that has fleas. If you have a pet that has fleas, please call your vet and treat accordingly. Make sure your home, yard, vehicle, etc are all treated as directed as well. Once the issue has been completely taken care of, we are happy to resume pet care for you!

dog and leash walking policy

All dogs are required to have a 6' leash for dog walking. All dogs will be kept on a leash unless we are in the client’s fenced yard. We ask that you please ensure that all harnesses and collars are free from tears and properly fitted to avoid your pet slipping out.

Dogs must be well-socialized and in good health to participate in walks. They must have up to date vaccinations for walks.

Aggression, fearfulness, bullying, and excessive leash pulling are other factors that will prevent dogs from partaking in walks.

We carry a small backpack during our walks that contains basic first aid needs, water for your dogs, treats, safety items, etc. We will not permit your dogs to interact with other dogs on walks. There is no pack walking at this time.

While we are on our walks, we do not interact with others for safety reasons for your own dog(s), our pet sitter and the other's. Some dogs may be super friendly and love everyone but one never knows when they might react to someone or another on basic instinct. Our main priority is safety for all involved. We like to be friendly but must 'keep a walkin' :)

sick & injured pet policy

If your pet becomes ill while in our care we will contact you as soon as possible.
If your pet has become ill prior to our visit, you MUST inform us so that we all can make the best informed decision on care for that next scheduled appointment or if we should plan to reschedule.

DAPS requires proof of vaccinations prior to services. Minimally required, in order to receive our services, is the Distemper and Rabies vaccines. If your pet is not able to have vaccines, we will need a letter from your Vet stating this and why. We will then discuss with you and your vet if our services are appropriate.

When you sign your pet up, you'll be signing a vet care release as part of our service agreement. It is your responsibility to arrange emergency payment options between you and your veterinarian in case D.A.P.S. needs to transport your pet in the event of urgent care needed. An emergency contact is also required in case you aren't available to care for your pet or in case you can't be reached to make decisions about your pet's care.

If we cannot get in touch with you to inform you of your pet’s condition and it is an emergency that requires medical attention, we will transport your pet to its primary veterinarian as per our records. If necessary and after your Vet's Business hours, we will transport to an emergency care facility which would be at the Purdue Animal Hospital in West Lafayette, Indiana. All medical expenses will be the responsibility of the sick/injured pet’s owner. There will be a charge of $25 per trip for our travels and time to your vet. If a trip to Purdue is needed, further charges will apply. Once at a hospital, we will keep you well informed of your pet's condition.

Home visitors

If anyone will be entering your home while your pet(s) are under our care, for the safety of pet sitter we ask that you notify us in advance. D.A.P.S. will not enter an occupied home if we have not been previously made aware of any visitors. Similarly, unless we receive instructions, we will not grant access to the home to any visitors. D.A.P.S. and its' Pet Sitters will not be held responsible for any damages incurred to the home or pet(s) if visitors have access to the home during the same time as D.A.P.S. We reserve the right to refuse service if we have not been informed of a visitor prior to services being rendered. It is understood that anyone with access to the home will be notified of D.A.P.S. pet care provider's presence and vice versa. The police will be called on all intruders or suspicious acts. Visitors are defined but not limited to; family members that do not currently live in the home, contractors, cleaners, and real estate agents, repair companies, etc.

your pet care provider

In the event of our own emergencies, sick days, training/seminars, or other unforeseen issues, D.A.P.S. reserves the right to send a replacement pet sitter to your home.

unforseen purchases

If we must purchase food, litter, or cleaning supplies that contribute to the health and welfare of your pet(s), we will retain a receipt and the owner/client is responsible for reimbursement of these items. In addition, a $15 fee will be applied if within the 47960 zip code. Additional fees may apply outside of that area. We are happy to help with shopping needs on a regular basis or as needed.

household emergencies

You will be asked to provide the names and numbers of trusted maintenance companies or person(s) who can attend to any household emergencies that may arise in your absence such as leaking pipes, malfunctioning water heaters, electrical issues, etc.

medications

We will attempt to administer all medications as directed by the primary caregiver but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result. If there is a fear that an animal will react negatively to the administration of a medication (bite, severely scratch or claw the caregiver) the pet sitter reserves the right to not administer the medication. The pet sitter will inform you of such as soon as possible.

The administering of medications is discussed prior to a visit. D.A.P.S. reserves the right to decline this service if we feel it is not in the best interest for all. You may need to provide a muzzle or pill dropper.

pet gaurdianship

In the unfortunate event that you become incapacitated while your pet(s) are in our care, we ask that you name the person who should be contacted to become their temporary guardian until care can be provided as arranged for in your legal documents. We urge you to address the care of your pet(s) when planning your estate. Be sure that the person named is aware of your appointing them as guardian.

If arrangements are not made for a pet, many will end up in shelters or in not the best of scenarios. We want your wishes to known and avoid situations such as these so that your pets are in the best of care.

sharing pet care services with others

To ensure proper care for your pets, D.A.P.S. requires that we are the ONLY pet care provider entering your home and providing pet care during the period of time for which you have hired us. The sole purpose of this policy is to ensure the care for your pets and your home, and for issues of insurance and liability. If anyone else has access to your home, while you are away, we cannot be held responsible for the safety and security of your home and your pets.
